Hi everybody. Im originally from New York-a place with 5 cent bottle deposits, which means you give them an extra 5 cents for every bottle and then when you recycle it you get your deposit back. Now I live in Baltimore, MD. A state that doesn't have five cent deposits which means no extra cash going out for every drink that you purchase. So the question is "are five cent bottle deposits good?" YES! I can't tell you how many bottles I have to see on the side of the road just walking a block to the nearest bodega. Nobody recycles here, people are not trying to pinch their pennies, kids are not collecting twenty bottles to get a mcdouble ,and no one is even cleaning up bottles-instead they love smashing them in the alleyways. If all the states had bottle deposits imagine how much cleaner everything would be. Peoples used bottles is the way that I lived through college, no bottles, no food. So tell you what, start voting yes at your local city meetings to get some deposits going around. Lets see how recycle friendly our nation can be by 2012!
