Did you know...

Recycled cotton textiles are produced from excess clippings from pre-consumer sources, which are typically discarded during the apparel cut and sew process. Clippings are then sorted by color and chopped into a fine linty material called "shoddy". The shoddy is then spun into a yarn that is used to produce recycled products.

Although manufacturing products from recycled inputs still requires energy, fewer raw materials are required. The greenhouse gase emissions are therefore offset by the avoided fossil fuel use for raw material aquisition. ( U.S. EPA).
